La Profesora asked me, “Do you like being the big fish in a little pond? Why not become the little fish of a bigger pond?”
I responded, “I am not a fish, little nor big, in any pond. I am a unicorn drinking from an infinitely deep lake in the midst of a resplendent meadow on the edge of a forest.”
Another question arose from La Profesora, “But do you not desire to see what is beyond the meadow?”
I thought about La Profesora’s question then remarked with this, “My open eyes have seen what lies beyond the meadow: More infinite space in which I can play. But it is with an open heart I must encounter my path for hunters hide behind the trees seeking me as bounty for their greedy world. A world of harnesses and chains. A world where one is master over many. A world where my freedom would be exchanged for enslavement to carry another’s burdens.”
La Profesora, surprised, asked, “You feel you carry the burden of others?”
Once more, I responded, “I prefer my meadow. The lake has big fish, little fish and even laughing dragons. We are at peace with each other for we all follow our individual passions.”
Again La Profesora questioned me, “Then why do the hunters quest to enslave you?”
My simple answer came to be, “Peace comes from following one’s passions. Enlightenment comes from allowing others to follow theirs.”
La Profesora began to speak, smiled then decided she had nothing more to say.
